Looks like the pigs don't play that
The NY Daily News reports that Erykah Badu will have to strip her wallet of $500 after stripping naked in a public square.
Dallas police charged Erykah with disorderly conduct - which carries a $500 fine - after she embarked on a public striptease for her latest music video, "Window Seat," on March 17.
Badu took all of her clothes off in the middle of the day in Dealey Plaza, where JFK was assassinated in 1963. In the video, she can be seen walking through the square removing her t-shirt and pants followed by her underwear, while curious passers-by look on. The singer then falls to the ground to the sound of a gunshot.
The Dallas native and mother of three has defended her actions saying that the events have been misconstrued.
“My point was grossly misunderstood all over America,” she said Saturday on "The Wanda Sykes Show."
She denied intending any insult to the memory of John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in Dealey Plaza.
“John F Kennedy was a revolutionary; he was not afraid to butt heads with America, and I was not afraid to show America my butt-naked truth,” she told the comedienne.
Sykes quipped that Badu “wasn’t afraid to show her badus” in public, and showed the singer a parody of the video in which she tripped on the sidewalk while trying to disrobe.
Meanwhile, a Dallas police spokesman said they have received calls from people across the country complaining about Badu's behavior.
"After much discussion we feel that these charges best fit her conduct when she disrobed in a public place without disregard to individuals and small children who were close by," the spokesman said.
"She can pay the fine, send it in and then the issue will be resolved."
