NY FASHION WEEK PREVIEW CUSTO BARCELONA FALL WINTER 2011/12 COLLECTION

Posted: 04 Feb 2011 10:39 AM PST

Binside TV is looking forward to attending the upcoming collections during NY Fashion Week at the Lincoln Center tents.  Designer Custo Barcelona offered the press a sneak  preview with the inspiration for his “Riot Grrrls” collection.

FALL-WINTER 2011/12 - RIOT GRRRRLS

Inspiration for the Collection

As the start of a new decade, 2011 is a great time for renewal and change, for breaking new ground to shake up the form and content of things.

Through work with textures, handmade details, a totally new colour palette and graphics that evolve but preserve their DNA, a whole new set of results is achieved in the FALL-WINTER 2011-12 collection from CUSTO BARCELONA.

These new proposals are extremely subtle; a return to the roots of traditional tailoring, with garments full of hand-stitched details that are a far cry from mass production. An appreciation of the handmade look, with all its little irregularities, the austere prevails over the vacuity of luxe and bling, and fabrics are reinvented at the service of the most urbanite and informal design.

These handmade-look fabrics with their irregularities, weaves and threads are sophisticated, yet conserve an air of the povera (poor),and are the basis for garments in which flaws are beautiful.

The poor look is extolled and lack of ostentation becomes the real luxury.

Outlines are renewed, giving way to unstructured shapes of the utmost lightness and purity.

Daytime and nighttime looks are easily distinguishable in this collection.  Bright, relaxed daywear. The woman who wears these daytime garments is totally urban and is looking for something with personality for work and weekends. She is intelligent and non-conformist, but without losing sight of her sexier and more daring spirit. A real Revolution Grrrls style.

The Custo nighttime look for women is one of the strong points of the collection.

Outlines feature baggy, less structured lines in which overlayering is the key. The fit is comfortable and roomy with oversize pieces a constant. Tops are wide over narrow bottoms, with the odd flare or bag.

Boho chic with unstructured flowing lines to emphasise the variety of feminine shapes.

Embroidery continues to feature strongly in the collection. Hand-embroidered details with all the beauty of irregularity, chain stitching on seams, geometric and appliqué-like, are a constant, along with a new feature: the embroidered logo. An easy, distinctive way to personalise Custo items.

The collection is divided into four themed groups:

SWEET UNIFORM

One of the sources of inspiration for this collection is a reinterpretation of the military look, put through a ‘sweet’ filter.

TEXTURE DOLL

From B-movie grunge to Camden boho and from rebel undergrads to goth Lolitas. These girls are rich kids that behave badly, unkempt, uncaring, sure of themselves and of being different.

3D

This group features the three-dimensional aspects of the graphics and the fabrics used. Few pieces transmit a message of such marked coherence and Custo personality. A language of its own, with elements designed to work autonomously, enhanced by combinations of stunning, unusual colours.

LONDON CALLING

Behind every collection is a great song, a powerful cultural fragment with a touch of the rebellious.

CUSTO BARCELONA ICONS

This new linerecovers the brand’s most paradigmatic shapes, taking them to the level of iconic pieces.

LOWXURY

This most successful line, Lowxury (from LOW + LUXURY), continues to grow.

It is now an extensive collection that offers an all-in-one solution, covering real market needs for nighttime and party wear at competitive prices.

The balance between quality, creativity, innovation and price is perfect, making this product unique in the market.

It targets real, intelligent women, who can appreciate and pay the right price for special occasion garments. Women who like to look different and unique, who steer clear of stereotypes and have their own personal taste and style.

These items feature sensual, flattering shapes that skim the body. They are technically very precise, with careful cuts that flatter.

The most vibrant colours in the Custo palette are mixed with earth, khaki, sand and black.

The graphic total looks are a new proposal for creating stunning outlines, inspired by those straight off the catwalk in New York.

GREEN AND YELLOW LIL WAYNE PACKERS ANTHEM MP3 DOWNLOAD – LISTEN NOW!

Posted: 04 Feb 2011 09:41 AM PST

Rapper Lil Wayne has a new anthem to celebrate the Greenbay Packers called “Green and Yellow.” Wayne’s version is a remix of the popular Wiz Khalifa‘s  song “Black and Yellow”.

GREEN AND YELLOW MP3 DOWNLOAD

Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” has proven to be the Pittsburgh star’s breakout hit but the anthem has also helped to propel his hometown Steelers to within one game of the NFL championship.

Lil Wayne, however, has something to say about that.

The New Orleans native is a huge fan of the storied Green Bay Packers — who will be facing the Steelers in the Super Bowl on Sunday — and he released his take on Wiz’s track, “Green and Yellow,” a nod to the team’s uniform colors on Thursday (February 3).

“Got a call from my homey, this just in,” Weezy raps over the synthy track. “The Packers in the Super Bowl and they better win/ They call him Big Ben, but he weak, though/ We in Dallas, but we Lambeau Leap, ho/ Long hair, don’t care, Clay Matthews/ We sh–tin’ on these fools, no bathroom/ Yeah, got a pocket full of big faces/ Throw it up, touchdown on Ike Taylor.”

Throughout the track, Wayne recounts the Packers’ path to the big game, including the defeat of both the Atlanta Falcons and the Michael Vick-led Philadelphia Eagles. Weezy also tosses a few zingers at the Steelers and their vaunted defense.

“Steel Curtain? What is that, velvet?” the Cash Money superstar raps.

The rapper is just one of many MCs who will be rooting for the two teams. Snoop Dogg and Diddy are Steelers fans. Two years ago, the Bad Boy Records CEO was ecstatic when his team took home their sixth title.

“I’ve been a Steelers fan since Mean Joe Greene gave the little boy the jersey,” Diddy told MTV News in 2009, referencing the classic Coca-Cola commercial from the ’70s starring Pittsburgh’s former defense legend. “And I always will be. It’s a great day to be a Steelers fan. From Obama to the Steelers. It don’t get better than this.” [MTV]

Here are some of the lyrics from the remix via our friends at the Smoking Section.

What up?
I got Nosk in here with me
This ain't a diss song
But um

Uh-huh, you know what it is
I'm a Cheesehead, y'all niggas Cheese Whiz
Pittsburgh Steelers, that's nothin'
That Super Bowl ring, that's stuntin'

Look in your town, when you see me you know everything

Green and yellow, green and yellow, green and yellow

Money green, yellow broad
Aaron Rodgers, MVP award
This is Green Bay, bitch we go hard
This is Packer Country, where your green card?
Terrible Towels, that shit's borin'
We got the ball, you know we scorin'
Yeah, and that's how we rockin', heavy metal
I'm up in this bitch wit' more Bloods than a blood vessel
Pitt goin' down, say hello to the devil
Just beat the Bears, now we got the Steelers on the schedule
Yeah, no love for 'em, boy, breakin' hearts
We gon' toast these niggas, Pop Tarts

Got a call from my homie, this just in
The Packers in the Super Bowl and they better win
They call him Big Ben, but he weak, though
We in Dallas, but we Lambeau Leap, ho
Long hair, don't care, Clay Matthews
We shittin' on these fools, no bathroom
Yeah, got a pocket full of big faces
Throw it up, touchdown on Ike Taylor

RIHANNA S&M MUSIC VIDEO BANNED IN 11 COUNTRIES

Posted: 04 Feb 2011 08:35 AM PST

Rihanna’s new S&M music video has been banned in 11 countries. The clip  features Riri wearing skimpy rubber outfits, bondage gear and a cameo from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

Rihanna has never shied away from being sexy in her videos, but it seems she’s gone too far for some with her colorful video and lyrics for “S&M.” Not only has the video been deemed “inappropriate for some users” by YouTube, where viewers must verify they are 18 or older before watching it, but a handful of radio stations are also reacting to the song’s racy lyrics.

In the video — while singing lyrics like “Sex in the air/ I don’t care/ I love the smell of it/ Sticks and stones may break my bones/ But chains and whips excite me” — she dances around in latex, poking fun at the ball-gag-wearing media. The clip includes whips, a dog-leashed Perez Hilton and Rihanna being handled by the press.

According to the U.K.’s Daily Mirror, 11 countries have already banned the video from airplay, and BBC 1 Radio won’t play the track before 7 p.m. A rep for the radio station said they are considering airplay for the Loud track: “We are waiting for an edited version before deciding whether it will be played in the daytime.”

As for rumors that MTV was looking to re-edit the clip, reps for the network told MTV News that the Melina Matsoukas-directed video was approved as is.

The singer herself is responding to the reaction and YouTube’s decision to include a parental warning on the video, tweeting, “U can now view the S&M video on Rihannanow.com UNFLAGGED!!!” Also tweeting, “They watched Umbrella … I was full nude.” [MTV]

HALLE BERRY & GABRIEL AUBREY CUSTODY BATTLE GETS UGLY RACIAL SLURS ACCUSATIONS

Posted: 04 Feb 2011 08:21 AM PST

Halle Berry’s custody battle has turned ugly.  The Oscar winning actress was forced to leave her role in the upcoming “Valentine’s Day” sequel New Year‘s Eve. Now there are new accusations being leaked from both camps.  Halle Berry’s circle claims Gabriel Aubry called her names and was angry that stories have been published citing that their daughter is Black.  There are also new rumors that Halle Berry has a temper problem and said that her baby daddy Gabriel Aubry was only a sperm donor.

As her custody battle turns ugly and racial, Halle Berry would like to thank her ex, Gabriel Aubry–for his sperm donation.

“You were only good for one thing… Thanks for the donation,” she allegedly wrote in an email according to Radaronline.com.

Halle and Gabriel split last April, reportedly amicably as they worked out a temporary custody agreement for 2-year-old Nahla. Gabriel filed a paternity petition in December, and the custody battle has turned nasty with reports of Gabriel being abusive and throwing around the n-word and other vulgarities. Sources close to Halle also claim Nahla is terrified of her father and cries when he visits.

Now an ex-girlfriend of Gabriel’s has come forward to TMZ backing up claims of Gabriel’s racism. The woman said he “has always been a borderline racist” and she was shocked when he got together with Halle.

For what it’s worth, a source close to Gabriel tells Radar he would never say the n-word – though he has been known to hurl other expletives at Halle.

“It’s just not something that would come out of Gabriel’s mouth,” the source said. “I’ll confess that I’ve heard him call her “a f***ing b**ch” before — when he’s been provoked, but I am talking serious provocation.”
