SUPERBOWL COMMERCIALS 2011 YOUTUBE VIDEO BEST & WORST ADS

Posted: 07 Feb 2011 12:25 PM PST

The Greenbay Packers won the Superbowl but tv viewers will be discussing these iconic television ads for years.  Here are some of  our picks for the Best and Worst Superbowl Commercials. All of the ads can be watched on youtube.

1. Volkswagen – The Force – Volkswagen’s commercial for their new Passat sedan features a little boy who wants to be Darth Vader.  The ad is simple yet had the ability to convy it’s message through subtle pop culture references and pitch perfect comedic acting from  six year old child star Max Page.

2. Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne – Best Buy Commercial. Justin Bieber replaces aging rocker Ozzy Osbourne in a commercial spoof.

Runner UpChrysler “This is Motor City featuring Eminem

Eminem made a cameo appearance in the Chrysler ad about the rapper’s hometown.

The Worst Ad was the Doritos “Finger Licking” spot with  a man who licks chip dust off another person’s fingers. He then rips another man’s pants off and starts to sniff them.
DORITOS® – Best Part — Crash the Super Bowl 2011 Finalist

The runner’s up for the worst spots were all of the Godaddy Ads and a few Pepsi Commercials. The Faith Hill Teleflora and the Kim Kardashian Sketchers ad were also seen by many as being too hot for tv.

YELLING TO THE SKY TRAILER STARRING ZOE KRAVITZ AND GABOUREY SIBIDE – WATCH NOW!

Posted: 07 Feb 2011 09:54 AM PST

Zoe Kravitz and Gabourey Sibide star in Victoria Mahoney’s directorial debut “Yelling to the Sky“. The dramatic film is scheduled to screen at the Berlin and at SXSW film festivals in competition.  Additional cast members are Tim Blake Nelson, Shareeka Epps and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter from the Roots.

We are glad to see a New Wave of African-American cinema with movies like Pariah directed by Dee Rees and Gun Hill Road by Rashaad Ernesto Green emerging at Sundance.

The film participated in the IFP Narrative labs and its screenplay has been the recipient of several accolades and acknowledgments, including its acceptance into the Sundance Institute's Screenwriters and Directors Labs, the annual Creative Producing Lab, the Mark Silverman Maryland Film Fellowship, and the presitigious Annenberg Film Fellowship grant for director Victoria Mahoney. Apparently, it's a project that's been in various stages of development since 2006, and now appears to be in front of cameras. Prominent African American author, Walter Mosley is listed as an executive producer.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA SINGS NATIONAL ANTHEM FORGETS THE LYRICS AT SUPERBOWL

Posted: 07 Feb 2011 09:09 AM PST

Christina Aguilera had the opportunity to sing the national Anthem in front of millions of  Superbowl viewers. It’s too bad that the Grammy Award winning singer forgot the lyrics!  The singer has apologized for flubbing the words and messing up the whole song. Watch Christina’s embarrassing Superbowl performance if you missed it.
Christina Aguilera – National Anthem Super Bowl XLV (2011)

Christina Aguilera is well aware that she made a boo-boo while singing the National Anthem opening up Sunday’s Super Bowl XLV. Singing Francis Scott Key‘s “The Star-Spangled Banner” live at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the singer, 30, flubbed the lyrics — trilling “what so proudly we watched” instead of the correct lyrics, “o’er the ramparts we watched.”

Aguilera opened up about the gaffe in a statement. “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place,” says the star. “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

Prior to the performance, the veteran entertainer said she was psyched to sing the patriotic ditty before millions of viewers.

“I have been performing the anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true…I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.” [YAHOO]

DARTH VADER SUPERBOWL COMMERCIAL VOLKSWAGEN “THE FORCE” BEST 2011 AD

Posted: 07 Feb 2011 08:35 AM PST

The biggest winner of the Superbowl ad blitz was a spot featuring a pint sized Darth Vader who wanted to have magical powers. The Volkswagen spot didn’t have any dialogue and only featured Star Wars theme music but it was the most successful commercial with over 15 million views on Youtube. This was our favorite spot of the night. Watch the ad if you missed with the adorable little Darth Vader.

The Force was with TODAY Monday when the pint-size Darth Vader who has stolen America's heart came to Studio 1A and tried to wield the same powers that seemingly brought a Volkswagen Passat to life in this year's breakout Super Bowl ad. He had an early success in the makeup room, apparently turning on a hair dryer with a thrust of his hands.

The diminutive Darth's efforts to channel metaphysical energies were more hit-and-miss when he tried to work them on a coffeemaker in the greenroom or on monitors in the TODAY control room — but 6-year-old Max Page's star power couldn't be stifled even by the bulky helmet he wore.

Max's Super Bowl ad shows him in full Vader regalia, struggling vainly to use the Force to start a washer and dryer, rouse the family dog, and bring a baby doll to life. But when he heads outside to work his magic on his dad's 2012 Volkswagen Passat, he's shocked when the engine roars to life — little knowing that his father has started the car by remote control from the kitchen.

On TODAY Monday, Max doffed his helmet to reveal a towheaded tyke with an impish grin. He was accompanied by his mother, Jennifer Page, who told Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira that it's still sinking in on her that her boy is an overnight advertising superstar.

The face beneath the Darth Vader helmet belongs to 6-year-old Max Page.

"It actually wasn't until halfway through the first day of filming that we even knew it was a Super Bowl commercial," she said. "I was like, 'Whoa, this is out of this world!' "

Max is no stranger to the camera — he's been performing since he was barely able to walk, and is known to soap fans for his recurring role as Reed Hellstrom on the CBS soap opera "The Young and the Restless." But 100 million Super Bowl viewers is a new galaxy of stardom. [source]
