Hollywood celebrated Broadway at the 2010 Tony Awards in New York City. Scarlett Johannson, Denzel Washington and Viola Davis were big winners at the star studded ceremony. The Tony Awards took center stage on Sunday night to recognize the best work in theatre. Also know as The Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre, this year’s Tony Awards was the 64th edition. The show took place at Radio City Music Hall from New York City, with television coverage on CBS. Tonight’s Tony Awards 2010 winners included Hollywood A-list actors Denzel Washington and Catherine Zeta-Jones each winning awards for their work on the stage.
Denzel won the Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play for his work in Fences, while his leading actress co-star Viola Davis took home the actress award. Zeta-Jones picked up the Leading Actress in a Musical award for A Little Night Music while Douglas Hodge took the award for actor in a Musical (La Cage aux Folles).

Memphis came up big with the final award of the night for Best Musical and closed the show out with a performance. The Green Day-inspired “American Idiot” won several awards for its production as did Fela! the show which is part-owned by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Jay-Z.
