JENNIFER FREEMAN ACCUSED OF ATTACKING NBA PLAYER HUSBAND EARL WATSON DIVORCE PAPERS FILED

Posted: 12 Aug 2010 09:25 AM PDT

jennifer-freeman-earl-watsonJennifer Freeman who starred on “My Wife and Kids” has been accused of spousal abuse. Jennifer’s husband claimed that the actress bit him and drew blood during a jealous rage.  The couple are supposed to reconcile but if the abuse is true then it is a serious matter that should be addressed.

According to legal papers filed last week in L.A. County Superior Court, Watson claims things got bad on August 1st … when Jennifer received a suspicious text message at 11PM and Earl decided to check her phone.

Watson — who played with the Indiana Pacers last season — claims his wife was furious that he took the phone and reacted by hitting him “forcefully twice in the face with her right open hand.”

Watson claims Jennifer then “grabbed my right wrist and bit … breaking the skin, leaving teeth marks and drawing blood.”  Once she let go of the wrist, Watson claims she then chomped down on his chest … again drawing blood.

Earl claims Jennifer then tried to attack him with an iron — but he was able to knock it out of her hand.

Now, Earl wants a divorce ASAP — along with full custody of their 10-month-old daughter.

Calls to Freeman have not been returned.

UPDATE:  Now how’s this for a change of heart… We just got a call from Watson’s lawyer, William Briggs, who tells us his client plans to withdraw his divorce petition tomorrow and that he’s reconciled with the wife who allegedly brutalized him.  Briggs tells us, “The couple has reconciled their differences and plans to make their marriage work.” [TMZ]

Jennifer Freeman was recently featured in the debut issue of Fearless Magazine with Lauren London, Tia Mowry, Naturi Naughton and Chyna Layne. Jennifer spoke in the behind the scenes video about what she thought defined a fearless woman.

It looks like she really understands the definition of the word. Who would thought a beautiful woman who appears to look like a delicate flower would have that much bite?

The new magazine Fearless launches this month by answering Vanity Fair’s “New Hollywood” issue with its “Fearless Class of 2010.”

While Vanity Fair was criticized for featuring only white actresses on the cover, Fearless showcases women of color. Getting the front-page stamp for the mag’s maiden voyage are Tia Mowry, Naturi Naughton, Monique Coleman, Jennifer Freeman, Kyla Pratt, Tiffany Hines, Chyna Layne and Lauren London.

London, who has a child with Lil Wayne, revealed that she will star in the VH1 movie “Single Ladies,” which Queen Latifah is spearheading, and she also explained her spirituality. “I’m always a fighter. With God, no person can stop you,” she told the mag.

Meanwhile, Mowry, who stars in the “The Game,” said she lives her life like the name of the magazine. “Success comes with risk,” she said. “Being fearless is important.”

“The idea to put a group of young women on the cover was thought of long before the year’s Vanity Fair controversy, but after it happened, our Editorial Board thought it was a great opportunity to celebrate women of color who are actresses in Young Hollywood,” said Arian Simone, the magazine’s editorial director.

Simone, who says she wanted to give women of all minorities a major platform, described the “Fearless woman” as fashion-forward, free-spirited and forever fun.

Actor Lance Cross, the movie “Takers” and athletes Andre Verto and Dwight Freeny are also featured in the issue. [MTV]

JET BLUE FLIGHT ATTENDANT STEVEN SLATER HAILED AS HERO

Posted: 12 Aug 2010 08:38 AM PDT

Steven-Slater-former-jetB-006Former Jet Blue flight attendant, Steven Slater, has been hailed as a working class hero after he freaked out and escaped from a Jet Blue flight. Slater reportedly snapped after a rude passenger tried to remove a piece of luggage which hit him in his head. Slater reacted by cursing out the passengers over the in flight intercom and leaving via the escape chute with two beers in his hand. He was later arrested, but his mythology and hero status are continuing to grow.

Steven Slater’s Monday probably started off no different than yours or mine. He might have hit snooze once or twice on his alarm clock before crawling out of bed. He probably had a cup of coffee on his way to work. In other words, to the outsider, Slater’s life probably appeared painfully ordinary.

But the way Steven Slater’s Monday finished was anything but ordinary. In fact, Slater’s Monday turned into something out of a John Waters film, what with a public profanity-laced tirade and an escape down a slide onto the airport tarmac.  He is now, for better or for worse, THE JetBlue flight attendant, with the now-infamous tarmac incident dominating the list of top Yahoo! searches. (Among the variations: “jet blue flight attendant,” up 9,175% in one day; “steven slater jet blue”; and “fed up attendant jet blue.”) And the term “JetBlue flight attendant” is still the top search term on Twitter as of this writing at noon Eastern the day after the fact, not to mention the outpouring of support he’s received on Facebook.

And as is the case with anyone who stumbles upon sudden infamy in the digital age, Slater has been the subject of much discussion in the past 24 hours or so. To many, he’s a working-class hero in the mold of the fed-up Peter Gibbons from the Mike Judge cult movie hit “Office Space.” As David Allan Coe advocated in song, he took that job and shoved it. But to a few others (who seem to be in a scant minority), he’s a psychopath, a man who lost control in a job where losing control is absolutely forbidden. Still others suggest he’s just a funny, crazy wild man. Here’s a random sampling of reactions from around the Web:

• Gawker’s Maureen O’Connor labeled him a “hero” for “doing that which everyone who has traveled by airplane dreams.” She added, “Unfortunately, his heroism may result in criminal mischief and trespassing charges.”

• Under a headline calling Slater’s actions “crazy,” the National Review found some fault with the employees at the airport where Slater’s plane landed, saying, “Heckuva job by the security people at JFK, no?”

New York magazine’s Chris Rovzar predicted that hero status for Slater is imminent: “You know, it’s amazing you don’t read stories like this more frequently. You’d assume that, just as passengers periodically go berserk, so would flight attendants. The gathering of the trash with the bare hands alone would have a normal person on edge. And forget about having to wash your hands in those maddening faucets every day. Prediction: This guy becomes some sort of folk hero.” [YAHOO]
