Katy Perry married her fiancee Russell Brand in India. The newlyweds held their nuptials in India over the weekend in a private ceremony.  Katy had been seen wearing a traditional Indian nose ring prior to her wedding.

Congrats to the couple!  At the Grammy Awards Katy Perry and Russell Brand spoke to Ryan Seacrest about their engagment after a trip to India.

As the sounds of traditional Rajasthani music drifted from the dozen specially erected tents across the moonlit resort, over 80 international journalists, including 15 British photographers, jostled for space with their telephoto lenses at the gates of the complex, more than 150 meters away.

Private security guards, black screens and a mobile phone ban have ensured a veil of the highest security has shrouded the wedding from unwanted eyes after exclusive publicity rights were sold to a London magazine.

“The wedding rituals began around 7 p.m. (9:30 a.m. EDT) and have now completed,” Kajod Mal, a local police officer, told Reuters by telephone from Kotwali town, close to the wedding venue. “We sent some of our men there for security.”

Brand, who has been seen with henna patterns on his hands, arrived on a decorated horse for the wedding, flanked by camels and elephants, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

Other reports said Barbadian pop star Rihanna played the maid of honor as a priest chanted Hindu hymns around a sacred fire.

As the sun set through the early evening, the guests, who are staying at two nearby resorts, arrived in cars with blacked-out windows. British singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher was also reported to be attending the ceremony, as well as Brand’s close friend television presenter Jonathan Ross.

The couple, who landed in Mumbai on Thursday, reportedly chose the resort for their wedding after Brand proposed to Perry at the same location last December. Perry wore an Indian bridal nose ring as she passed through the airport.

On Friday, a Reuters witness said four photographers were attacked by a member of Brand’s security detail while trying to take pictures of the groom-to-be on a safari trip.

One of the actor’s bodyguards smashed camera equipment and injured one of the photographers before taking the keys to their vehicle, leaving them stranded in the tiger reserve. [REUTERS]

PACE UNIVERSITY STUDENT, DANROY HENRY, FOOTBALL STAR SHOT DEAD BY POLICE

Danroy Henry was shot and killed by police at Pace University. The 20 year old football star was reportedly handcuffed after the shooting.  Danroy Henry Sr. wants an investigation into the shooting. Mount Pleasant police chief Louis Algano believes Danroy Henry was given aide quickly. Pace University students videotaped some of the chaos after the fatal shooting.

A student at Pace University was shot and killed by police officers early Sunday after he had struck two of them with his car outside a bar in Thornwood, in Westchester County, the police and university officials said.

The student was identified by the university as Danroy Henry, 20, a junior at Pace's Westchester campus who played for the university's football team.

Sometime after 1 a.m. on Sunday, a police officer from the nearby village of Pleasantville noticed an unruly crowd in the parking lot outside of Finnegan's Grill and requested help from the Mount Pleasant Police Department, according to a statement released by the Mount Pleasant police.

As officers arrived and tried to subdue the crowd, one of the officers approached a car that was parked in the fire lane, where Mr. Henry sat with at least one passenger, the police said.

When a Pleasantville police officer knocked on the window, Mr. Henry started to drive away, striking the officer and tossing him onto the hood of the car. The car then knocked into another officer, the police said, who was trying to pull the first officer from the hood.

Meanwhile, the Pleasantville officer, who was still clinging to the hood of the car, pulled out his gun and fired into the car. Another officer then fired into the car, which came to a stop after it crashed into a parked police vehicle, the police said.

Mr. Henry and a passenger were shot, the police said. They were taken to Westchester Medical Center, where Mr. Henry was pronounced dead. The passenger, whose name was not released by the police, had only minor injuries, the police said.

Two police officers were taken to the hospital and treated for unspecified injuries, and two other officers were being treated for trauma, according to the police.

It was unclear how many shots the police fired or how many times Mr. Henry and his passenger were shot. The Mount Pleasant police declined to answer any questions beyond the information released in a statement on Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, Mr. Henry, of Easton, Mass., played in the football team's homecoming game against Stonehill College, which it lost, 27-0. Mr. Henry, a defensive back, recorded one assisted tackle.

The shooting was a rarity in Thornwood, about 33 miles north of New York City, and tore deeply into the college on Sunday, where a large gathering of students remembered Mr. Henry at a candlelight march and vigil.

Most of the students mourned in silence as they made their way to the football field, until Cornell Craig, director for multicultural affairs and diversity programs at Pace, started speaking.

"D.J. was a brother, a friend, a teammate; he was family," he said. "I think this turnout tonight shows what he meant to us, still means to us."  [NYT]

KANYE WEST RUNAWAY FILM FULL LENGTH MUSIC VIDEO

Kanye  West premiered the 35 minute short film/music video for his single “Runaway”.

The musical movie is directed by Kanye West and stars supermodel Selita Ebanks as a phoenix who falls to earth and falls in love with the rapper. Watch the full length and extended versions of the music video if you missed them.

Runaway” is a 35-minute opus starring himself and model Selita Ebanks. In the film, Ebanks plays a phoenix (as in the mythical creature) who crashes to Earth and gets saved by West (who plays a vaguely fictionalized version of himself). The two strike up a relationship that ultimately ends in tragedy. Along the way, the film tosses out all sorts of gorgeously rendered scenes and a handful of mind-bending tracks from West’s hotly-anticipated upcoming album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

In fact, the greatness of the music and the stunning quality of the film (combined with West’s back catalog and his previous success in the music video realm) have solidified West as unquestionably the greatest pop star of this generation. His music has appealed to hip-hop fans, pop aficionados and rock enthusiasts alike, and his approach to video, fashion and public image have made him an instantly recognizable and unique singularity. His work is constantly evolving, and he has managed to be good at just about everything he has ever tried. And he has consistently gone out on a limb, attempting things that are way outside of his comfort zone. It’s even a little obscene to think about West as a “hip-hop producer” at this point, as while that is certainly the universe that gave him his start, he has evolved way, way past that world. [MTV]

TAYLOR MOMSEN FLASHES FANS GOSSIP GIRL STAR PRETTY RECKLESS FLASH VIDEO

Gossip girl star, Taylor Momsen, flashed a crowd of fans during her live performance with her band “Pretty Reckless.”  The seventeen year-old was filmed on stage at the Paper Magazine Express party at Don Hills giving an impromptu strip show to the audience.

Taylor Momsen has surely gotten all the attention she wanted when she showed off way more than fans anticipated during her live performance with her band The Pretty Reckless in New York on Thursday, October 21. When spitting her verses, the “Gossip Girl” star lowered her top, flashing audience her breasts.

Momsen, who was at that time donned a skimpy black top, thigh-high stockings and sky-high platform shoes, bared her assets with nothing but little pasties to cover them in a quick flash. The performance, which was part of an after-party for Rock the Sidewalk, an Express and Paper magazine event, will likely stir controversy as Momsen is still 17 years old.

Though so, Momsen might not really mind about it after all. Earlier this year, the actress/singer said, “To be honest, I don’t f**king care. I didn’t get into this to be a role model. So I’m sorry if I’m influencing your kids in a way that you don’t like, but I can’t be responsible for their actions. I don’t care.” She even recently told Bullet magazine that she sees herself as “totally insane” and “totally out of my mind.”

Meanwhile, child and family psychologist, Dr. Jeff Gardere, gave his explanation over Momsen’s “ridiculous” action. “I think it’s totally inappropriate that she flashed her boobs on stage. And it will hurt her career when she goes from the sublime to the ridiculous. We might no longer be laughing with her but at her,” he told Hollywood Life.

“Taylor is endangering her future career, but more importantly she could be endangering her own physical safety, by exposing her breasts and groping herself. What turned -on fan is going to jump her or stalk her?” Gardere added.  [source]
